 Focusing on the future...

One component of our Home and Careers class is the exploration of potential careers.  The research is completed using the Career Cruising online database.  The students complete a survey of questions that are designed to align the student’s interests with possible career paths.  The students then select one career from the generated list to complete research project.

Our project this semester was designed to highlight both the student’s research and their interest in technology.  Using the Animoto software the students have created music videos to present their findings.  All of the students were expected to fulfill several requirements; however, they were encouraged to use their own creativity and personal preferences to select music, images, text, and to determine a logical presentation of the information.

During the course of our project we have talked the students about ethical use of the internet and the need to properly cite work and images that are not of their own original composition.  The students were provided with copyright friendly sources for images and the  Animoto website provided copyright friendly music to use with the videos.  If you are interested in more detailed information regarding this project please click on the link to our school library.

We would like to thank the creators of Animoto for making this software available for educational use.  Additionally, we would like to thank our librarian, known to many as PageSage, for her time, talent, and patience with our project.  Finally, we would like to thank our district administrators for supporting the use of technology in instruction and encouraging the faculty and staff to discover different applications for implementing technology in an effort to challenge and support student learning.

We hope that you enjoy our videos.
